Aurientis, Dominique

  Dominique Aurientis has to be one of the most dynamic new designers from Paris. Ginger Moro, author of "European Designer Jewelry", gives reference to her on page 113 of her book.  Aurientis' jewelry  is very intricate and beautiful.  Look for her rising star.  Very collectable designer.

Dominique Aurientis Earrings

To make a statement one only has to wear a single piece of jewelry by Dominique.  These earrings say it all!  The bas-relieve design is set off with the interesting way the gold is finished.  The background is of lesser gilt than the face.  The earrings are clip backs and they measure 2 inches in diameter.  They are quite comfortable to wear, not heavy.

Bauer

  Dorothy Bauer became well know for her Christmas & holiday jewelry...her innovated designs are well know...she uses color to an advantage.  Now in her later years she is still designing and manufacturing.

If you are Dorothy Bauer collector this is a rather "rare" design that she did in the late 1980s.  The bracelet is bright yellow with bright turquoise blue Rhinestones.  Every other section is lose rows of stones connected with sold "link"...this makes a very interesting "wavy" look.  The bracelet measures  6 1/2 inches long and is 5/8 inches wide.

Bernard, Les

  Les Bernard is really Bernard Shapiro partner to Lester Joy who are partners of Les Bernard which was founded in 1963.  They are known for their fine designs, meticulous details, and substantial jewelry.

Beaujewels

  Beaujewels was manufactured by Bowman & Foster from 1950 to 1960.  Their designs were upscale and they used "fruit salad" stones that were popular with the more expensive jewelry of the day.

  Bogoff jewelry was designed and manufactured in the Chicago area from about 1946 until the 1960s.  They designed for the elegant lady who was on a budget.

  Marcel Boucher, Cartier trained,  produced costume jewelry under his own name from the late 1930s until the early 1970s.  He once worked from the Mazer Brothers.  

Carnegie, Hattie
  In 1918, Hattie Carnegie founded  Hattie Carnegie, Inc. which primarily produced dresses & hats.  Hattie expanded his business to include designing and producing great jewelry.  Hattie has a great sense of humor and you find this in many pieces of her jewelry.  The business closed in the early 1980s.

Ciner
  The Ciner company was started in 1892 in New York...this fine company is still producing wonderful jewelry. They are know for producing classic pieces for the upscale customer.

In the 1950s this design was considered ultra modern. Ciner is a classic designer and in 2002 their designs are still consider modern.  The pin is just under 3 inches at it widest and 1 1/2 inches tall.

Coppola e Toppo
  Coppola e Toppo is best know for their work for Schiaparelli.  They also did wonderful designs of their own...using unusual crystals.  Bruno Coppola and Lya Coppola Toppo were brother and sister.  Their business opened in 1946 and was closed in 1986.

We feel that at one time this animated bunny had a twin that was attached.  You can see our bunny and his twin on page 93 of Nancy Schiffer's book Fun Jewelry.  The pin is in excellent condition and is probably silver with a gold wash.  It is 2 ½ inches long and a little over 1 inch wide at the cheeks.

  R. F. Clark is the chief designer for William de Lillo.  During the final years of the great Marion Haskell designs Clark was her chief designer.  The details of his pieces are legendary.   The jewelry was marketed to the wealthy and not many pieces were made.

  Miriam Haskell started her business in the early 1920s.  Her jewelry is classic and has a "look" that is unmistakable only hers.   Her hallmark is detail, detail, detail.  Every collection, to really be complete,  needs at least one of her pieces.

  The Hollycraft company began in 1948 and closed their doors in 1972.  Their chief designer, Joseph Chorbagian, signed his pieces with the year...a hallmark that hasn't been yet copied.  Their distinctive designs incorporate special colors...including a large group of designs that are set with distinctive pastel rhinestones.  Hollycraft did many designs for Weiss.

  The Kramer jewelry company started in New York in the early 1940s and produced beautiful jewelry until the late 1970s.  Louis Kramer only used the finest and brightest Austrian crystals and has a "good eye" for classic designs.

When I first looked at this pin I though it was a Schreiner!  The pin is set with pink aurora borealis stones detailed with glass (we feel is it Italian) triangular shaped beads.  Very unusual and very beautiful.  The pin is about 3 inches wide and hangs down about 2 inches.

  Kenneth J. Lane is one today's best known jewelry designers.  In our humble opinion he did his best work the early 1960s to the late 1970s.

  This great company was founded in NY City early last century and closed in the late 1970s.  Their jewelry has substance and  is was very innovated...they used colorful plastic inserts...and rhinestones in the same pieces.  Many of their pieces were inspired by the Art Deco movement.

  Joseph & Lincoln Mazer founded their company in New York City in 1927...their are also the founders of the Jomaz company.  Their jewelry is of high quality and innovated designs.  In the early part of 1950 their chief designer was Andre Fleuridas...Adolfo designed for them in the 1970s.

Mozell
  Frederick Mozell started his jewelry company in 1940 when he migrated to the USA from his home in Paris.  He stared out with novelty pieces and soon was producing elegant pieces.  He is best know for his sophisticated designs that are remiss of elegant Egyptian revival.  His small company was purchased by the Monet group who than sold it to Liz Claibourne.   Mozell jewelry stopped production in 1980.

  Napier was founded in 1875...and has gone through several ownerships.  In 1920 James Napier took over as  president and by 1922 had changed the name of the company to is own.  This fine company is still in business and is still catering to the lady that wants to be well accessorized.

  Regency jewelry has spectacular color hues and high-quality rhinestones.  The company begin in the 1950s and closed in the 1980s.  They are know for using japanning to plate their pieces.

  The Robert in "Original by Robert" really was Robert Levey.  At one time Mr. Levey had two partners and they called their company Fashioncraft Jewelry Company.  Robert jewelry was produced from the late 1940s to the early 1960s.    Robert signed all of his jewelry...so look for his hallmark signature on a little paint palette that says "Original by Robert."

The first time I saw this pin I was sure it was the mate to the above earrings...but more I looked there are some difference.  Even with the color difference the two items would look very nice together.    The center interested is detailed with a purple square cute princess rhinestone...held up by additional purple stones.  The filigree is interesting.  The pine measures about 2 inches across and is 1 1/2 inches long.

  Nettie Rosenstein designed jewelry to complement her very expensive clothing line.  Nettie was  very well know for her line of  extremely colorful and intricate "real look" rhinestone pins and earrings...she also produced perfume.

  Elsa Schiaparelli started her jewelry business in Paris during the early 1930s.   The Schiaparelli empire was not only jewelry but clothing and  perfume.  Her vintage jewelry is highly collectable.  One of her signatures was the use of Coppola e Toppo crystals and very bold and large rhinestones.

Coppola e Toppo the Italian jewelry designers provided all the crystal beads for Schiaparelli jewelry.  The crystals are beautiful in these clip back earrings...bright red Aurora Borealis beads set off the clear crystal beads.  They sit on the ear with the style that Schiaparelli is so know for.  The earrings drop down about 1 3/4 inches and are about 1 1/2 inch at the widest.  A great "flirty" look.

Schiaparelli Blue Cabochons and Gold Earrings

Elsa Schiaparelli was a designer’s designer. What a talent...she took simple items and made them sing. The light blue cabochons in the earrings are made of molded glass. They are offset by three leaves that are finished in gold with touches of white enamel. They measure 1 inch long and about 1 1/2 inches wide. They are clip backs.

Schreiner  

  The Schreiner company designed and produced jewelry from 1950-1970.  One of their hallmarks was using unusual stones "upside down" and their pins are very deep...standing out on a ladies dress or coat.  Their jewelry was not mass produced and now commands a place in a vintage jewelry collection.

Schreiner Pin w/Large Center Stone c 1950Item # JS-21007

Substantial is the keyword for this fine pin.  The design is typical late 1950s "Art Modern."  Beautiful large clear center stone (set upside down) surrounded with wirework leaves snuggled underneath are large gray cabochons detailed with large clear stone and deep amber faceted stones...all making a beautiful statement.  The large center stone is held by four "dog tooth" setting...one has a small portion missing.  This doesn't take away from the over greatness of this classic Schreiner.  The pin sits up about1 inch and is 2 1/2 inches long and about 2 1/4 inches wide.

Trifari
  The Trifari company began in 1918 and is still in production today.   There were three original partners---Trifari/Kussman/Fishell and they became the first designers to use multi-colored Austrian stones .  Trifari is one of the best known companies to have their  distinctive designs resemble fine jewelry.  This was thanks for the great designer Alfred Philippe.  Philippe was just one of many fine designers who have worked for this outstanding company.

Vrba, Larry
  Larry Vrba started his career as one of the Miriam Haskell designers.  His work for Ms Haskell was outstanding.  He is know producing a limited amount of his own signature jewelry.  All of his personal designs are upscale and make a great fashion statement.

  Albert Weiss founded his company in 1942  in New York City.    He manufactured  high quality jewelry.  The best of his jewelry was produced in the 1950-1960s.   His jewelry is know for it stunning design and clear rhinestones.

Whiting and Davis
  Whiting and Davis began business in 1876...they became famous for their purses...during the Art Deco period a lady had to have one on her wrist.  During the 20th Century until today they are producing jewelry with their signature mesh look.
